Greetings!
To our faithful readers looking for Part III of our series, The Democratic Primary race for County Executive, …, we apologize for the delay. It will appear later today.
In other political news, the Ohio Redistricting Commission reconvened yesterday with a new member, Allison Russo, who replaced former ORC member Emilia Sykes as Ohio House Minority Leader. Sykes had stepped down as minority leader to prepare to launch her campaign for Congress, which she announced yesterday. ORC is charged with redrawing new Congressional districts by this Saturday, as a result of last week's decision by the Ohio Supreme Court.
LGBTQ+ icon Jim Obergefell also announced yesterday that he is running for the Ohio House in Sandusky. State House districts will also have to be redrawn following a second decision by the Ohio Supreme Court finding that the GOP-dominated process had run afoul of the state constitution.
We conclude this morning missive with news of the passing of revered former educator, Conella Coulter Brown, who died on January 9. She was a distinguished citizen of both Cleveland and her native Kansas City, MO, which forced her into exile in the early 1950s when they would not allow her to teach in the city's schools. Their retardation was a bonanza for Cleveland, where she came and created a distinguished career in education. She later became a trustee of Case Western Reserve University. You can find her obituary here, as well as details of services today and this weekend, both of which will be live-streamed.
As always, stay safe and thanks for reading The Real Deal Press!
