Walk All Over Waterloo Arts Festival – April 2
Head on over to the Waterloo neighborhood today between 5pm and 8pm for an evening of art, music, and foodstuffs. Check out the renovated second-floor studios in the Gold Building, an inaugural exhibit in the new upstairs gallery of The Deep End, and a new “mini-mall” at Crosslens Space. Also, enjoy exhibits at Praxis, Photocentric, Waterloo Arts, Pop Life, Framed Gallery, and Matt Shiffler Photography, and welcome longtime gallery owner William Busta to the district with his latest space, William Busta Projects.

Mahalia Jackson Documentary on Lifetime Networks – Premieres April 4
Lifetime Movies presents the biopic of famed gospel singer Mahalia Jackson, entitled “Mahalia,” premiering Sunday, April 4 at 8PM ET and starring Danielle Brooks (“Orange is the New Black”) in the lead role.
Born in New Orleans, Mahalia Jackson began singing at an early age. She went on to become one of the most revered gospel figures in U.S. history, melding her music with the civil rights movement. Her recording of the song "Move on Up a Little Higher" sold millions of copies, skyrocketing her to international fame and gave her the opportunity to perform at diverse settings including in front of a racially integrated audience at the prestigious Carnegie Hall and at John F. Kennedy's inaugural ball.
“Mahalia” also features an impressive list of Broadway stars including Tony Award nominee Joaquina Kalukango (“Slave Play”), Jason Dirden (“Fences”), Olivia Washington (“The Butler”) and Rob Demery (“Lovecraft Country”). The film is directed by Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon. Robin Roberts (“Good Morning, America”) serves as one of the executive producers. Watch the trailer.
45th Cleveland International Film Festival – April 7-20
What has become a Cleveland tradition, the Cleveland International Film Festival, returns — virtually, for the second year in a row —for its 45th-year. Over the span of 14 days, cinephiles will have access to hundreds of films, documentaries, and podcasts. The festival opens with the comedy “Together Together,” about a 40-something single man interested in starting a family. The film stars Ed Helms (“The Hangover” films) and Patti Harrison. The ticket price for most films is $10, with the exception of the Opening Night film ($25). Tickets went on sale to the general public last Friday.
Fathom Events Presents 65th Anniversary Screenings of ‘The Ten Commandments’ – April 4
An Easter TV programming staple, Cecil B. DeMille’s epic “The Ten Commandments” turns 65 this year and Fathom Events is bringing it back to the big screen for exclusive screenings. Starring Charlton Heston, Yul Brynner and Ann Baxter, this sweeping drama also features exclusive insights from Ben Mankiewicz of Turner Classic Movies. Check listings for theater showtimes.
Jellybeanville, the annual Easter display in Euclid, Ohio, celebrates its 60th anniversary this year.

Jellybeanville, the annual, extravagant Easter display in Euclid, is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. Located at 25401 Zeman Avenue, the display features eggs, inflatable animals, eggs, Easter baskets, balloons, artwork, and eggs. The Easter Bunny will stop by to pass out treats on Easter Sunday. Social distancing protocol will be observed. The display is free, but donations are welcomed and will benefit the Journey Center for Safety and Healing, which assists victims of domestic abuse.
