Horns and Things at BOP STOP – December 10

Horns and Things, the powerhouse contemporary jazz ensemble, returns to BOP STOP tonight at 8p for a special concert and live stream!  Tickets to attend in person are $20 each. Downtown Cleveland Winterfest 2021 – Ongoing

Winterfest, the annual downtown Cleveland (and University Circle) holiday celebration, is back with a wide variety of happenings throughout the holiday season including nightly light shows, ice skating, dining events, Holidays at the Higbee in JACK Casino, the Festival of Trees, a Gingerbread House tour at Cleveland Botanical Garden and much more!  Select events will continue into February. 

 

The Golden Age of Cleveland Art: 1900-1945 – Through April 2022

“The Golden Age of Cleveland Art: 1900-1945,”, the exhibit currently on display at the Cleveland History Center (formerly known as the Western Reserve Historical Society), highlights the achievements of Cleveland’s most remarkable artists from the first half of the twentieth century. The exhibit features artists of international stature,  as well as some who remain relatively little known.

 Among the featured artists: August Biehle, Margaret Bourke-White, Charles Burchfield, Clarence Carter, Henry Keller, William Lescaze (artist and architect), Roy Lichtenstein, James Harley Minter, Elmer Ladislaw Novotny, Hugo Robus, Charles Sallee, Don Schreckengost, Viktor Schreckengost, Huey Lee Smith and Frank Wilcox. 

Adult admission ranges from $10-$15; children ages 3-12 are $6.

‘Elf,’ ‘Polar Express’ Double Feature – December 12

On Sunday, December 12 at 2PM get a double dose of holiday fare with screenings of “Elf” starring Will Ferrell, Bob Newhart and Faizon Love, and “The Polar Express” starring Tom Hanks at the Akron Civic Theatre, 182 South Main St. [44308]. Presented exclusively by Wayside Furniture. Patrons will also enjoy free popcorn and holiday sing-alongs.  Tickets are free but must be picked up at the Civic Box Office no later than 4pm December 10.  

In keeping with CDC guidelines regarding indoor events, all patrons, regardless of vaccination status, are required to wear masks upon entering the building, and at all other times except when actively eating and drinking.

East Cleveland native John Henton (“Living Single,” “The Hughleys”) returns to Cleveland next weekend, Friday, December 17 – Sunday, December 19 for five shows at the Cleveland Improv, 1148 Main Avenue [44113]. Tickets are $20.
