Stumbling forward along the path of continuous improvement
When The Real Deal first appeared in its original format — a four-color tabloid print monthly — back in 1991, we envisioned three broad baskets of editorial coverage: Civic, Commercial, and Community.
That core concept has not really changed over the years, even as we appeared under different flags, in various formats, and on various schedules [weekly, monthly, occasional, sometimes irregular].
Today, we are all digital, even though we acquired the surname Press along the journey. We post virtually every day, sometimes as many as three or four pieces.
While we’ve been busy building the ship we haven’t been as keen about flying the flag.
That is changing.
Here’s a quick guide:
We have several recurring features.
Face the Competition, a column chockful of straightforward business advice on how to position your small to midsize business enterprise for success, appears on the first Tuesday of every month. Written by the dynamic duo of Jinida and Julius Dorsey, you can read the latest entry here.
Real Money has returned! This column, penned by Burner Crew, began in an earlier epoch of RDP. Rereading it in our archives, the insights are still fresh. It’s a view of finance and entrepreneurship from 40,000 feet that we think you will appreciate. It appears on the second Tuesday of every month. Look for it next week.
For the past few months, our most regular readers have been checking out Nate’s Northcoast Notes, a preview guide to some of life’s essential diversions. Oldtimers may consider it a modern day homage to the City Streets coverage once offered by journalist Hall of Famer Dick Peery. Nate’s column posts by 6a on Fridays to help you plan your excursions from the mundane.
Our stock in trade continues to be our political coverage. And there’s no more important time to know what’s happening — and why — than right now, when the community’s leadership, if not its underpinnings, may be undergoing profound climate change. You can find our recent observations on the Cleveland mayor’s race and the 11th Congressional District here and here.
Two closing notes
