The program will also include panelists Common Pleas Judge Lauren Moore, Cleveland Municipal Court Judge Jeffrey Johnson, and Cleveland State University Professor Donna Whyte. The event will be held in the Multi-Purpose Room of the Justice Center, 1200 Ontario St. [44113]. Register at obja.us.
This evening at 7p, the Cleveland Restoration Society will release, via webinar, the public premiere of a 30-minute video about the history and cultural heritage of the Black Church in Cleveland. This webinar will be led by Dr. Aaron Fountain, who has been working with Cleveland Restoration Society to compile and produce a written history detailing the impact of Black churches in Cleveland. The video will feature a curated collection of archival images from many churches across the city. A Q&A about the history and cultural heritage of Cleveland's historic black churches will follow the video. Register here.
Also tonight, Bull Street, a black film about generational wealth and land that has screened across the United States and the United Kingdom, will be shown today-only at 7p at the Cedar Lee Theatre, 2163 Lee Road [44118].
The screening will be followed with an in-person Q&A with the director, Lynn Dow. The film’s producer, Wendy Tannock, is a Spelman grad.
Finally, a Black Buyer’s Boycott is scheduled for tomorrow. Details are in the flyer below. For a deeper dive into this issue, see this article we published on the boycott campaign.
