"Be loyal to those who are not present. In doing so, you build the trust of those who are present."— Stephen R. Covey

Good Friday Afternoon!

Ideally, political campaigns are about ideas, visions, platforms for a better tomorrow. Practically, they often come down to personalities and money. And when the money is roughly comparable, whoever runs the better or best campaign will win.

We made our endorsement today on the blue side of the 11th District Congressional primary, and we've already heard from many of you, pro and con. Our real hope is that our community will absorb the lessons of the last five years and be moved to greater participation in the electoral process. If we don't, our losses as a community and a nation may be irretrievable.

On other fronts, new talent continues to find its way to Cleveland. And no, we're not saying that because Busta Rhymes was in town yesterday. Rather, we're thinking of folks like the incoming dean of Case's Mandel SASS.

And as Nate Paige reports, the Northcoast arts and entertainment scene is continuing to rebound from the pandemic.

Finally, we are saddened to report the passing of attorney and former East Cleveland mayor Darryl E. Pittman on July 10. Arrangements are being handled through Calhoun Funeral Home. An obituary will appear here when ready.
