The theme of this year’s summit is “Philanthropic Equity: Making An Impact”. The hosts promise a program that “will take participants on a thought-provoking journey reflecting on how philanthropy can be inclusive, how equity influences philanthropy at multiple levels and how transformational philanthropy can be for individuals, families and communities.”
Registration is now open at ClevelandFoundation.org/AAPC.

The African American Philanthropy Committee was created as an advisory committee of the Cleveland Foundation in 1993 under the leadership of former Cleveland Foundation Executive Director and President Steven A. Minter. The committee launched the Summit in 2010 as a signature event to engage the African American community around charitable giving and to honor African American philanthropists in the region. The Committee also maintains a legacy fund at the Cleveland Foundation that supports a variety of nonprofit organizations within the African American community, helping to advance its missions and support key initiatives.
Honorary event chairs for this year’s Summit are philanthropists Eddie and Sylvia Brown; Rev. Dr. Robin Hedgeman, Senior Pastor of Bethany Christian Church and a director of the Cleveland Foundation; Dr. Alex Johnson, Cuyahoga Community College president; Darrell McNair, President and CEO, MVP Plastics; Anthony Price, Advisor, Dell Technologies; Ronn Richard, Cleveland Foundation president and CEO; and Kashim Skeete, a managing director at Bank of America.

There are additional in-person options for young professionals ($30 – up to 35 years old) and the luncheon keynote only ($35). Donations are encouraged to the African American Philanthropy Committee Legacy Fund, which supports the work of charitable organizations serving Greater Cleveland’s African American community.
