The Centers for Disease Control, US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy and the US Department of Health and Human Services website have all declared loneliness and isolation as a national epidemic that has had a devastating impact on our communities.
On Saturday, June 1,2024 from 10am to 1pm, Arlington Church of God [ACOG] will host a workshop on loneliness, “Tired of Being Alone: Social Connections Matter.”
Daniel W. Sanders, PhD
The event will feature Dr. Daniel W. Sanders, a licensed counseling psychologist and mental health professional in private practice in the Akron area. Sanders has conducted workshops and retreats both nationally and internationally. The workshop will provide information, resources, and strategies about loneliness and how to address it in relationships, school, the workplace, and community.
Hosted by the church’s Wellness Ministry, “the workshop offers members of the community an opportunity to address a topic that has often been ignored or underestimated for its effect on individuals and those who care about them,” according to Dr. Marilyn S. Mobley, an associate minister at ACOG.
The workshop at Arlington Church of God, 539 S. Arlington Street, Akron, [44306] includes a networking activity over a boxed lunch. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required online or by calling the church office at 330.773.3321.
