The 100 Black Men of Greater Cleveland, Inc. [100BMGC], an affiliate of The 100 Black Men of America, Inc.,  this week announced its 2021 honorees. The award recipients will be honored at the group’s Maskuerade Ball, “Building Culture and Community with Today’s Youth,” on Saturday, December 11 at Cleveland Marriott Downtown at Key Center, 127 Public Square.

Chartered in 1997,  the local group has several specific mission areas: mentoring youth, increasing educational and economic opportunities, advocating for institutional change, and improving the health and wellness of black males in particular and the African American community in general.

100BM is honoring one community leader for exemplary performance in each of these “Four for the Future” areas: Robert C. Ivory, director of the Students of Promise program, will receive the Mentoring Award. Warrensville Schools superintendent Donald C. Jolly, III is being recognized with the Education Award. Dr. Teresa Dews, president of Cleveland Clinic Euclid Hospital, is being honored with the Health and Wellness Award; and Timothy L. Tramble, Sr., president and CEO of Saint Luke’s Foundation, is being recognized with the Economic Empowerment Award.

Two other honorees will also be recognized at the December gala. Margot James Copeland, retired chair and CEO of KeyBank Foundation, will receive the 2021 Trailblazer award in recognition of her career accomplishments. Archie Green, founder and CEO of Peel Dem Layers Back, will receive this year’s Rising Star award.

Proceeds from the gala will be used to support the 100BMGC’s mentoring, education and economic empowerment programming, examples of which will be featured during the evening, hosted by Danita Harris of News5 Cleveland and Wayne Dawson of FOX8.   “It is critical that we encourage and empower our youth by providing programming that will give them the confidence and support to lead positive lives and become our leaders of tomorrow,” said Lee V. Fields, the group’s chairman, in a prepared statement.

Honorary Co-Chairs of the event are Dr. Jacklyn Chisholm of Step Forward; Wesley Gillespie, of Erie Bank, Kathryn Hall of Jack Entertainment; LaRese Purnell of CLE Consulting; Natoya Walker Minor of Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority.
