The Cleveland Public Theatre is kicking off its summer of free shows with “Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation”.
‘Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation’ at Cleveland Public Theatre - July 1-11
Kicking off the Free Summer Season series of plays at the Cleveland Public Theatre is “Panther Women: An Army for the Liberation,” directed by India Nicole Burton. The production follows the stories of three prominent women who were members of the Black Panther Party and Black Liberation Movement as a way to explore the lives and unique experiences of black women in America.
Starring in the play are actresses DayShawnda Ash, Courtney Black, Chennelle Bryant-Harris, Mary-Francis R. Miller, Maya Nicholson, Khemi Shalahuddin, and De’Aja Mona’e.
Performance times are Thursday, July 1; Friday July 2; Saturday, July 3; Thursday, July 8; Friday, July 9 at 7PM. Additional performances will be held at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Stage Saturday, July 10 at 5:30pm; Sunday, July 11 at 4:30pm. Contains adult content and language.

YAY! Saturdays At Wade Oval – Saturdays Through July 17
Wade Oval in University Circle is a destination for the kiddos with YAY! Saturdays, through July 17. Each YAY! features three zones – the Discovery Zone, the Shape Up Zone and the Fan Zone - with free children’s activities that rotate weekly. All activities are free and geared toward K-8 students and their families. 10AM-1PM. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult or legal guardian at all times. Please register.
Join Rockefeller Park Hikes on Summer's First Saturdays at 11AM.
Rockefeller Park Hike – July 3
The next Rockefeller Park Hikes will be Saturday, July 3 at 11AM; registration begins at 10:30AM at the Famicos Foundation parking lot, 1325 Ansel Road (44106). The hike will be about 1.5 miles and will follow a future, proposed nature trail, taking participants through unpaved sections of the park from Superior to St. Casimir Way. Please bring sturdy shoes and water, if desired. Advance registration available.
Rockefeller Park Hikes are held the first Saturday of the summer months. Next month’s hike will be August 7.
Blossom Music Center's 2021 season featuring The Cleveland Orchestra starts Saturday, July 3.

The Cleveland Orchestra kicks off the 2021 season at Blossom Music Center with the holiday staple “An American Celebration” a family-friendly evening featuring performances of Copland’s Suite from Appalachian Spring; Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture; Watkins Soul of Remembrance and more. The evening will end with a fireworks display. Tickets are $25, $35 and $45. Children 17 and under are free when lawn tickets are purchased (2 children per each adult ticket purchased).
One World Day 2021 Festival Looking for Volunteers
One World Day, the annual cultural festival held in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens along Martin Luther King Blvd., is looking for volunteers. This year’s celebration of international good will, scheduled for Sunday, August 29 from 11AM-6PM, will be the event’s 75th anniversary.
