The 44th annual Lakewood Arts Festival takes place tomorrow, Saturday, August 7, from 10a to 6p on Detroit Ave. between Arthur and Belle [44107]. This year’s event features more than 100 artists from across the country including painting, prints and works on paper, photography, ceramics, art glass, sculpture, fiber, wood, jewelry and more.  There will also be live music and entertainment including the Erie Heights Brass Band, Ballet Legato and Austin Walkin’ Cane and the Musos, food trucks and booths, children’s activities including chalk art, and much more.

 

Chrisette Michele at Mitchell’s Ultra Lounge – August 7

Grammy-winning artist Chrisette Michele will headline an evening of music as part of the Ultimate All-Black Affair tomorrow, Saturday, August 7 at 7p at Mitchell’s UItra Lounge, 24900 Euclid Ave [44132].  Also performing will be Jack’s Jazz and Franc West, a native Clevelander who competed on NBC’s “The Voice.” A limited number of $60 tickets still remain; the $120 VIP tickets are already sold out. No tickets will be sold at the door.

 

Dancing siblings Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy bring their “Stripped Down Tour” to the Cleveland Agora Saturday, August 7

‘Maks & Val’ at Cleveland Agora – August 7

Over the span of 29 seasons, two of the most popular “Dancing With the Stars” professional dancers have been brothers Maksim and Val Chmerkovskiy. The siblings have taken their unique dance stylings on the road for the summer with the “Stripped Down Tour,” and will make a stop tomorrow at the Cleveland Agora, 5000 Euclid Ave [44103].  

The intimate evening is packed with breathtaking dancing, deeply personal storytelling, and world-class showmanship true to the Chmerkovskiy name. Tickets are $39.50-$69.50 in advance; $49.50-$69.50 day of show. All ages. Doors open at 7p; show starts at 8:15p.

 

Slow Roll Cleveland’s August schedule kicks off Monday, August 9 at the MetroHealth Campus

Slow Roll Cleveland Community Bike Rides – August 9-30 

Slow Roll Cleveland, the weekly community bike ride is back. The August 9 ride this Monday is a makeup ride from July that was canceled due to weather. It begins and ends on the MetroHealth Campus in the Clark-Fulton neighborhood, 2500 MetroHealth Drive [44109].  MetroHealth will have someone on hand to give a talk about the hospital's ongoing projects, including a status update on their new main building, which will be visible from the gathering place. Parking will be available for riders on the MetroHealth Campus.

Bikers gather at 6:30p; the ride begins at 7p.

Slow Roll Cleveland takes place most Mondays from June-October at different starting points throughout Greater Cleveland, allowing riders to get up-close and personal looks at the city. See the complete season schedule (scroll to the bottom of the page).

 

Etana, Daddy Longlegs Homegrown Revival at Grog Shop – August 12

Reggae star Etana brings her Grammy-nominated ‘riddims’ to the Grog Shop in Cleveland Heights, 2785 Euclid Heights Boulevard (44106) for one show, Thursday, August 12 at 7:30p. Also on the bill are Cleveland band Daddy Longlegs Homegrown Revival, offering a cornucopia of musical genres, supported by live performance artists onstage; along with Akron-based band Church of Starry Wisdom, Lewis, and DJ Square Biz. Tickets are $16 in advance; $20 day of show.  Add $2 at the door if under 21.

 

Bill Bellamy at Cleveland Improv – August 20-22

Comedian actor Bill Bellamy will do five shows over three nights — Friday, August 20-Sunday, August 22 — at the Cleveland Improv, 1148 Main Avenue in the Flats. Tickets are $30-$40.  Temperature checks will be taken prior to entering the theater.  Bellamy can currently be seen in the feature film “A Dark Foe,” on select theater screens and through Amazon Prime. He also had a role in the 2020 Netflix mini-series “Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker.”
