2021 BorderLight Festival – Streaming through July 31
The biennial BorderLight Festival went virtual this year, offering all its programming via remote access, virtual interactive experiences, video on-demand fringe shows, and site-specific, self-guided audio journeys.
The theme for this year’s festival is “Tune In and Turn it Up,” and features 32 programs, most of which are available on demand, including the Ohio City Theater Project’s “But to Work,” starring Laprise Johnson and written by India Nicole Burton; “Quest for Equality” by the Dancing Wheels Company, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year; and “Blackblade,” a fantasy radio play by Arif Silverman. Performance views are based on a pay-what-you-can system.
Founded in 2015 by Dale Heinen and Jeffrey Pence, BorderLight’s mission is to present visionary international theatre and build cross-cultural understanding.

Lords of The Land (LoTL) is a four-day summer festival bringing authentic Hip Hop culture and Street Dance to downtown Cleveland and the surrounding region through dance workshops, graffiti art, musical performances and open dance cyphers.

Saturday, July 31: Hip-Hop and Street Dance Festival on Public Square
Presented by 10K Movement, the weekend’s festivities will culminate Sunday, August 1 at noon with a BBQ Cookout at Edgewater Park. Registration necessary for workshops and competitions. $20 for workshops; $20 entry fee for competition; $15 spectator fee. Workshops and dance competitions will take place at Buck Out Cleveland, 1242 East 49 St, Suite 5-3N, 3rd Floor (44114).

Inlet Dance at Cain Park – July 30, 31
Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Inlet Dance Theatre at Cain Park’s Evans Amphitheater with a kids’ matinee on Friday, July 30 at 1PM, and a company performance Saturday, July 31 at 8PM. Both events are free. Company dancers will perform repertory and premiere a new work, “Hiding and Revealing,” in a concert featuring other new works with dancers in the Inlet Summer Dance Intensive and the Inlet Trainee & Apprentice Program. A pre-performance reception on July 31 begins at 6:30PM.
Inlet Dance Theatre was founded in 2001 by Executive/Artistic Director Bill Wade.

‘Fashion Talks: The Runway Cleveland’ Event at The Madison – July 31
Delve into the creative world of fashion during the “Fashion Talks: The Runway Cleveland” event, Saturday, July 31 at 6PM at The Madison, 4601 Payne Avenue [44103]. Organized by Aimon Ali of, ahem, Fashion Talk, The Runway will showcase emerging fashion designers, local established designers, international designers, models, and Cleveland Ladies of Influence. As attendees will discover, this state-of-the-art event is more than just a fashion show.
Tickets range from $60 - $150 and include live entertainment, featuring a performance by local singer/songwriter Siena, shopping opportunities, appetizers, non-alcoholic beverages, and more.

To promote his latest album, “Gold Digger’s Sound,” Grammy-winning singer Leon Bridges performs his latest single, “Steam,” on a recent episode of “The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.” Bridges is scheduled to perform in Cleveland next May at Jacobs Pavilion.
