A release party for the Fall issue of the Collective Arts Network (CAN) Journal will take place Friday, August 27 from 1-8PM at Doubting Thomas Gallery, 856 Jefferson Avenue (44113) in Tremont. Gallery directors, staffers, and artists will gather from around the region to network and preview events from Labor Day through Thanksgiving. Free!

The 5th Annual Columbus Black International Film Festival continues through Saturday August 28 at various locations in Columbus including the Wexner Center for the Arts, 1871 N. High St., where films will screen between 4 and 9PM.   A reception will take place Friday, August 27 at 5:45PM. This year’s theme is “Transcend.” Admission $9 general public, $7 Wex members, $5 students.

The Cleveland Garlic Festival returns to Shaker Square August 28 and 29.

Follow your nose to Shaker Square this weekend for the 2021 Cleveland Garlic Festival Saturday, August 28 from noon-8PM and Sunday, August 29 from noon-6PM.  Attractions will include a Garlic Cook-Off for both carnivorous and vegan palates, vendors, stilt walkers, Jungle Terry, the Euclid Beach Boys Thriller Car, musical performances by Cats on Holiday, Gruve Tonic and much more! Tickets are $9 in advance; $10 on event dates. $5 for seniors (65+) and $5 for children 4 to 12 years old. Children under 4 are free. No physical tickets will be issued. Organized by the North Union Farmers Market.

The 75th Annual One World Day festival takes place Sunday, August 29 from 11AM-6PM at the Cleveland Cultural Gardens on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Since 1945, the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation has celebrated One World Day in the Gardens. This annual event reflects the theme of the Gardens: “Peace through Mutual Understanding.”  Enjoy a day of food, music, dancing, performances by the Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, the Singing Angels, Kevin Conwell and the Footprints and more!

One World Day is hosted by the Cleveland Cultural Gardens Federation and presented by Councilman Kevin Conwell, and produced by Johnny K. Wu, co-Founder of the Cleveland Asian Festival.
