Interfaith service scheduled for Sunday

Mayor-elect Justin Bibb’s transition team announced this week that Angela Shute-Woodson will take on the role of Senior Advisor to the Mayor on Community and Government Affairs and Jessica Trivisonno has accepted the role of Senior Strategist focused on the West Side Market.

Angela Shute

Shute-Woodson is a community activist well known for her work in numerous political campaigns as well as her involvement with area clergy on several projects over the years. She has previous government experience at both the county and state levels. She was an administrative assistant to former Cuyahoga County Commissioner Jane Campbell, and worked as manager of  the county’s SBE (MBE/WBE) program.  She also served as director of  outreach for faith-based and community initiatives  under Governor Ted Strickland.

Shute-Woodson introduced a teenaged Justin Bibb to City Hall by inviting him to attend Campbell's inauguration as mayor in 2002. This time she will attend as a senior advisor to that young guest of yesteryear.

Jessica Trivisonno

Trivisonno is an attorney whose practice focused on public law during her year with Walter Haverfield. She most recently served as economic development director for the Detroit Shoreway Community Development Corporation. She will be charged with fulfilling Bibb’s campaign promise to support the renaissance of the West Side Market, a prime city asset that has suffered from neglect.

On January 3rd, Bibb’s first day in office, his administration has promised to post two additional Senior Strategist positions to bring cabinet-level leadership on racial equity and lead abatement, which he declared to be strategic priorities doing his campaign. Other top positions undetermined during the transition period will be posted on the official City of Cleveland website.

TeamBibb’s final act is expected to be delivery to the new mayor its recommendations for the first 100 days of the new administration. Those recommendations will be presented in groups of ten, centered on Neighborhoods, Health, Public Safety, Education, Open Government, Modern City Hall, Environment, Equity in Action and Talent. The final report from the ten committees will be available in late February. From there, a team of students from Harvard’s Kennedy School "Transition Term",  will create a dashboard to  track progress on the prioritized recommendations put together during the transition effort.

Ceremonial Swearing-In of Mayor-Elect Bibb will be January 8

Bibb will be sworn in just after midnight on January 2, along with law director-designate Mark Griffin.

There will be a public swearing in ceremony on Saturday, January 8 at Music Hall in Public Auditorium, with Ohio Supreme Court Justice Melody Stewart presiding. Due to the most recent surge in COVID-19 cases, the audience will be limited to family, essential staff and members of the media. Bibb’s transition team reported receiving over 1,200 people RSVPs to the in-person ceremony that was originally planned before the switch to a virtual ceremony.

Interfaith Service on Sunday

An interfaith service will be held this Sunday at 3:30p to invoke support of a nonpolitical variety for the new administration. It will be held downtown in the Amistad Chapel of the United Church of Christ headquarters, 700 W. Prospect Ave. [44115]. The service will be closed to the public due to COVID concerns.

Updated at 7:45pm. Thanks to the eagle-eyed reader who pointed out that Jane Campbell took office in 2002, not 2005, which was the year she lost in November to Frank Jackson. We have a special fondness for those readers who keep us on our toes.
