Panel discussion with community leaders and medical professionals will be streamed live

Cleveland City Councilman Kevin Conwell (Ward 9) and Medworks, a northeast Ohio nonprofit that provides free healthcare services to those in need, have partnered to provide the community with facts about the Covid-19 vaccine.

This Saturday, Feb. 13, at 11 am, Medworks and Conwell will host a panel discussion to provide answers to the most pressing Covid-19 vaccine questions from a panel of community leaders and health professionals, including Cleveland Clinic physicians Dr. Charles Modlin and Dr. Fred Harris; Dr. Nicolette Powe, assistant professor of public health at Youngstown State University and director of its public health program; Glenville HS principal Jacqueline Bell; and pastors E.T. Caviness of Greater Abyssinia Baptist Church and Chris Attaway of the Pentecostal Church of Christ.

“African Americans have died from Covid-19 at a rate that is three times higher than whites, according to the Center for Disease Control,” says Conwell. “We want to make sure members of the community are receiving factual information to help them make informed decisions about the Covid-19 vaccine.”

The panel discussion will be moderated by WOIO TV 19’s Harry Boomer and streamed live from Conwell’s Facebook page. Residents from across the city and county are encouraged to tune in and submit questions.

“Medworks exists to bridge health disparity gaps and help people live healthier lives,” says Jennifer Andress, Medworks’ executive director. “We want people across the Greater Cleveland community to have the facts and be able to access the Covid-19 vaccine. We are here to help educate, register, and we will likely help vaccinate soon too, when the vaccine supply increases.”
