Barbara Olivia Curry was born in Cleveland, OH on February 20, 1938, to the late Rev. Ollie and Maggie Curry. She graduated from John Adams High School in 1956 and enrolled in Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, where she majored in education. She later received a master's in education from Cleveland State University.
Barbara worked at the County Welfare Department and taught business education at several Cleveland public schools, including Nathan Hale Jr. Hi, and John Adams, East, and East Tech high schools.
She was a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and the national sorority of Phi Delta Kappa where she was a Xinos leader. She was also a board member of the Lee Harvard Community Services Center.
In her free time Barbara loved traveling and playing bridge. She celebrated 50 years of Bridge Club and Couples Club membership.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Thomas A. Hamilton, Jr. She is survived by their sons, Eric (Patty) and Scott (Lisa); grandchildren Olivia, Chad, Marie, Jenna and Shawn Hamilton; niece Paula Tuffin (Reginald Hollinger), nephew Brian Tuffin (Mary), and a host of extended family members and friends.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, February 17 from 10a-2p and Sunday, February 18 from 1p-5p at 3325 Green Road, Beachwood, OH 44122. A Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Omega Omega Service will be held Saturday, February 17 at 3:30p at Lakeview Cemetery, 12300 Euclid Ave [44106]. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Final arrangements were entrusted to E. F. Boyd & Son Funeral Home.
