All-Pro Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett has taken on a new role as United Way of Greater Cleveland ambassador. Last week he headlined with UWGC and its agency partners, Lexington-Bell Community Center and YWCA of Greater Cleveland, a special “Home for the Holidays” community event in downtown Cleveland.

During the Nov. 23 event, local youth and their families who participate in programs led by Lex-Bell and the YW filled and took home Browns-sponsored bags with winter clothing, including hats and gloves, as well as assorted school supplies, including notebooks, pens, and pencils. There was also an art station where participating children flexed their creative skills with Garrett. The afternoon’s festivities concluded with a reception where the children spent time with Garrett and enjoyed a variety of beverages and snacks.

In September, Garrett unveiled a mural he commissioned in honor of his late grandmother, Juanita Garrett. The mural, which shows Garrett as a young boy with his grandmother, is prominently displayed on the side of United Way’s Playhouse Square building.

Garrett was honored as the Browns’ 2020 Walter Payton Man of the Year, which recognizes NFL players for their commitment to the community in addition to their on-field excellence. Since joining the Browns as the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, he has recorded 56.5 sacks in 63 career games en route to two All-Pro selections and two Pro Bowl accolades.
