Overcame lifelong struggles with kidney ailments to lead full life
November 18, 1980 — March 10, 2022
OBITUARY
Michael Audrick was born to Karen and Michael D. Audrick Sr. at Booth Memorial Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio on November 18, 1980. Eighteen months later he lost the use of his kidneys. Michael’s mother Karen donated one of hers, which only lasted days. Michael went home from the hospital before Karen and started a life of continuous medical care with family at his side.
In the mid 1980s Michael’s condition deteriorated. A call went out locally — and with the assistance of Congressman Lou Stokes, nationally — that Michael needed a kidney transplant to survive. His presence made the public aware of the need for both organ and blood donation. Michael was blessed with another transplant which was successful.
Michael was baptized at Good Shepherd Baptist Church in Cleveland as a young child. During his pre-teen and teen years he was able to resume his studies. Michael graduated from Lutheran East High School in 1999 and went on to attend Akron University.

Michael lived a full life, though his adult years were regularly punctuated by dialysis, transplants and a variety of surgeries at University Hospitals. He enjoyed vacations with friends. He spent time with family. He learned much from his dad about property management and construction, how to enjoy the water and fishing and how to be a respected business colleague. He loved spending time with his daughter, and recently was able to purchase a home with a designated bedroom for her.
Michael’s desire to give back and serve the community that supported him directed him to a career in adult care for the past 14 years. His work at Premier Ohio Care and consultancy to Legacy V helped him find a sense of fulfillment as well as earn a living.
Two women were the special beneficiaries of Michael’s love: his mother Karen, who saw him through all of his medical treatment, and his 4 year-old daughter, Makayla Brielle Audrick, the joy of his life. Other family members who travelled with Michael on his life’s journey include his brother Cory Audrick (Katrina); uncles William H. Audrick, III, Elwood Hardnick (Mildred), Hosea Hardnick (Yolanda Frazier), and Keith Hardnick (Toilyne); aunts Sheila Hardnick, Roshon Hardnick, Schanda Hardnick (deceased), Jacqueline Hardnick Ford (deceased), Dianne Audrick Smith; nephew Cory Audrick, Jr.; nieces Tanea Perrymond and Gabryelle Audrick; and his great niece, Heaven Bradford.

Michael enjoyed his many friends, travel, walleye fishing with his dad, music production, his collection of athletic shoes, and high school and professional sports. He worked hard and was dedicated to family and friends. He was highly trusted by his business associates and loved by his family and friends.
Michael died at University Hospitals on March 10, 2022. His last wish exemplified his character and spirit and generosity. It was for his family, friends, and community to donate blood to the American Red Cross, to replenish the supply which was needed for him.
