May 23, 1928 — January 2, 2025
Family practitioner Harry L. Stiggers, D.O., the first black physician to practice at a non-segregated hospital in Greater Cleveland — Brentwood Hospital in Warrensville Heights — died on January 2, 2025. He was 96.

Stiggers served in the US Army and was honorably discharged in July 1948. An avid golfer, he was a member of the Negro National Golf Association. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing, and snacking on pistachios. He was a trustee emeritus of Hiram College.
Survivors include his wife Mimi (née Donaldson) of New Orleans, LA; his children Stephanie Stiggers-Smith (Gregory), Harry L. Stiggers II (Joy), Monique Stiggers-Mercer, Lia Stiggers-Christians, and Harra L. Stiggers. Stiggers III, and Madison Stiggers; and great-grandchildren Julian Mercer and Avery Mercer.
