Richard Trojanski

Maple Heights city councilman Richard Trojanski soundly beat the third attempt to recall him less than halfway through his four-year term. District 6 voters voted against recall by 135 to 76. This was a decisive victory margin of 64% to 36% for those who favored recall. The turnout was 9%, about what was expected three weeks to the day after city-wide elections. These results are unofficial until certified by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections next month.

Tina Stafford-Marbury, who city officials say has initiated all three recall efforts — the first two failed to reach the ballot — did receive some good news from the elections board this week. Yesterday the board certified her third-place finish in the Nov. 2 school board race. Stafford-Marbury had come in third on election night, but there were enough ballots outstanding that she could have moved up to second or dropped to fourth place. Final results certified yesterday placed her three votes behind Alonzo Blackwell. Incumbent Rosalind Moore came in first.

Blackwell's victory thwarted the attempt by incumbents Moore and Connie Rosemond, who ran on a three person slate with Stafford-Marbury, to establish a governing majority on the five member board. Rosemond finished fourth with 1,133 votes, seven votes behind Stafford-Marbury, and ten behind Blackwell.
